Seniors in the City networking event Preparing for your future isn’t just about what you know, it‘s also about who you know. This isn’t a typical etiquette dinner and networking event. At Small Talk for Big Moments, we’ll prepare you for real-life scenarios you’ll encounter as you navigate your personal and professional life! Join us at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, in the Jockey rooms of the Todd Wehr Center.

If the thought of talking to strangers is a bit overwhelming for you, we understand! If you’ve never been to an event like this, or if you consider yourself a pro, you’ll learn strategies for balancing the art of conversation and etiquette while enjoying free appetizers and drinks.

Scenarios you might encounter:

  • You’re interested in joining a fraternity/sorority but not sure how to make the best impression.
  • You’ve just joined a new organization and want to be actively involved — now what?
  • You are still feeling that you haven’t quite found a network of like-minded friends on campus. How can you use events to connect and find friends with shared interests and values?
  • What happens when you have one hand holding a plate and the other holding a drink, and someone walks up to you and wants to shake your hand?
  • What if you just ate something that tasted unpleasant, but you’re in the middle of a great conversation with a potential employer?

Gain these important insights and more from our alumni panel, moderated by Professor Greg Barron!

The alumni panel includes:

  • Tony Davidson ’00, strategic account management at FIS
  • Samantha Nichols ’19, registered nurse at Froedtert South Hospital
  • Steve Hobe ’15, museum educator at Adler Planetarium and opera singer/production manager at Janus Concert Series
  • Matt Patzke ’12, manager of Medical Group Operations at Ascension
  • Dominique Pritchett ’07, postdoctoral psychology resident at Allendale Association

Thank you for your interest in Small Talk for Big Moments! Preregistration is closed at this time, but we still welcome you at our event. Please arrive by 4:45 p.m. to check in and receive your name tag.
