Merely Players finishes second in preliminaries at College Improv Tournament
, Carthage’s improv comedy group, competed in the Windy City Regional of the 13th Annual College Improv Tournament on Feb. 1, finishing second in their preliminary round. Merely Players
Eleven teams from across the United States competed in the WIndy City Regional at CSz Theater Chicago, with teams from Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Colorado. In their 20-minute long set, members of Merely Players performed as a wide variety of characters, from a man posing as an Australian with a Canadian passport to a bad cook’s ghostly grandmother. One judge noted that they had “some of the strongest emotional responses and connections [they have] seen in this competition.” Representing Merely Players were:

Merely Players Improv Comedy was founded in 1993 and regularly performs for the Carthage community as well as the general public. Their first show of the semester will be on Tuesday, February 18th at 9:00pm in the Student Union Theater, and they will hold auditions open to all students Thursday, February 20th at 9:00pm in Woh’s Place in the TWC.
