Sammie Woodward Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

GREENWOOD, Ind. — The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced their selections for the NCAA and NAIA Academic All-District Teams on Thursday, naming Carthage guard Sammie Woodward to the District Six First Team.

This marks the second such honor for the senior, after she was named to the All-District First Team by CoSIDA last year as a junior. She has also received the conference's winter All-Academic honor in each season at Carthage.

On the court, Woodward has been a key member to the Lady Reds this season, evident by her 38.5 minutes per game which ranks fourth across Division III. The Franksville, Wis. native is second on the team in points per game at 16.5, and owns a team-best 88.2 free-throw percentage which ranks 13th in the country.

Woodward has also left her mark in the program record books, as she recently entered the top-10 for career three-pointers made with 155, owns the highest career free-throw percentage in school history at 86.4%, and is currently tied for seventh for most threes in a single season with 59.

Woodward and the Lady Reds will play in their final game of the 2020 regular season this Saturday, February 22, when they host Illinois Wesleyan in Tarble Arena at 5 p.m. for Senior Day.
