NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) announced the winners of their men's lacrosse players of the week on Monday, with Carthage's Colin Poitras taking home the award for offense.
The junior captain tied his career-best with eight points in the Red Men's lone game this past week, as he helped guide Carthage to a 17-8 win over Huntingdon College. After assisting on the first goal of the game, Poitras scored one of his own moments later before scoring his second late in the second quarter. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native then notched three goals and an assist in the third period, before assisting the Red Men's 17th and final goal in the fourth quarter. Poitras would end the day with a career-best 14 shots on goal, and tie the program record for shots in a single match with 18.
This marks the third week Carthage has been awarded a men's lacrosse player of the week honor this season, and second time they have taken the offensive award. Poitras joins Noah Lindner and Kyle Guthrie as previous CCIW Player of the Week honorees.
