Be counted in the 2020 Census! Complete your Census questionnaire online. All you need to complete it is your name, address, and 10 minutes. Students who would normally be living on campus should use their campus address. Other students, faculty, and staff should use their home address.

What is the Census?

It is required by law to fill out the Census every 10 years. The Census is a mandated count by the Constitution in Article 1, Section 2. The Census counts every person living in the United States and five U.S. territories. It provides adequate funds/services and resources to your community based on the count. Your personal information will not be shared with other government entities. It is against the law to do so.

How does COVID-19 impact college students and the Census?

With the COVID-19 pandemic, Carthage residential students were sent home for their own personal safety. However, you should still fill out the Census as if you are living on campus. To fill out the Census as a Carthage student, you will need to complete the Census without a Census ID. To do this, follow the guidelines on the U.S. Census Bureau website

  • All residential students should complete the Census as an individual living on campus, regardless of if you live with a roommate (or roommates).
  • It is easier than ever to complete the Census; all you have to do is go online and fill out the questionnaire
  • If you don’t have your Census ID number (sent to campus), then simply use Carthage’s address: 2001 Alford Park Drive, Kenosha, WI 53140 and complete the survey.
  • The Census questionnaire shouldn’t take you more than 10 minutes to fill out.

Carthage students, you may ask “how is it going to benefit me?”

  • The Census provides critical data that lawmakers, business owners, teachers, and many others may use to provide daily services, products, and support for you and your community. Without the Census, we wouldn’t be able to forecast how many faculty, staff, and resources will be needed for our Carthage community in five years.
  • As a student living in Kenosha, you can benefit from the Census. Data from the Census helps provide law enforcement to keep Kenosha and campus safe, helps businesses make decisions about where to build new store fronts, and helps real estate developers build new housing in the area.
  • If college students, like yourself, accurately represent themselves, the City of Kenosha can better cater to our needs and wants, such as affordable housing, new bars and restaurants, city attractions, etc.
