With the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak, the 2020 Summer Undergraduate Research Experience will continue, but to support remote research and creative experiences only. Given this late change in plans, the application timeline will be extended by a week:

  • The deadline to submit SURE applications is now Wednesday, April 15.
  • Decisions about awards will be announced by Friday, April 24.

We regret that we need to make this change, but we understand the need for students to make informed decisions about their summer commitments soon. The SURE program exists to support students and faculty working together on scholarly work that will facilitate their development as professionals in their disciplines, and ideally contribute to the larger body of scholarly and creative works. Doing this together but remotely will certainly change the type of work we can do this summer, but we are confident in our creativity and determination to build these great experiences.

Please work closely with your faculty mentors in the development of your proposals.

If you have any questions about these changes, please contact the dean of your division: Deanna Byrnes (Natural and Social Sciences), Corinne Ness (Arts and Humanities), or Jackie Easley (Professional Studies).
