Prof. Patty Rieman creates poverty awareness project

Professor Patty Rieman will use her fall 2020 sabbatical to partner with the Racine Kenosha Community Action Agency (RKCAA) to create a  poverty awareness program in Kenosha. Using a poverty simulation kit purchased by the departments of education, nursing, and social work, Prof. Rieman will work with RKCAA to lead local agencies and businesses through a simulation of the experience of living a month in the condition of poverty. Prof. Rieman hopes to also develop a service learning course so that Carthage students may develop their understanding of the myriad of issues faced daily by those living in the condition of poverty.
