Professor Ingrid Tiegel Ingrid Tiegel, recently retired Emeritus Professor of psychological sciences, has been appointed to a two-year term (renewable for two terms) on the 10-member Executive Council of the Wisconsin American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). The AARP is a non-partisan, non-profit national organization that seeks to promote the well-being and health of older adults.

Membership is open for a modest annual fee to anyone 60 years or older. Some examples of issues that AARP addresses are driver safety, good nutrition, stress management, assistance with tax preparation, quality of long term health facilities, and voter enfranchisement. AARP has a very extensive national website with links to a variety of programs, forums, and information links. Extensive membership makes AARP a very powerful lobby nationally.

Prof. Tiegel, as a developmental psychologist, has long been interested in the importance of studying the psychology of stress across the lifespan and gerontology for students who are specifically entering such fields as psychology, nursing, occupational therapy, clinical or counseling psychology, social work, or the health sciences in general. She also has considerable experience in both community collaborations and committee work, and served as a two-term member of the Mt. Pleasant Village Board.

Please let Prof. Tiegel know if there are specific issues that you feel should be brought to the attention of an organization with considerable lobbying power. Send her an email at itiegel@carthage.edu.
