Rebekah Johnson Professor Rebekah Johnson recently presented a virtual session on the use of “Educational Theory in Physical Education edTPA” for Human Kinetic’s Virtual Conference for Health and Physical Education.

SHAPE (Society of Health and Physical Educators) America Conference, the conference Prof. Johnson originally prepared her presentation for, was canceled due to COVID-19. In response, Human Kinetics (well-known publisher in the Kinesiology field) asked Prof. Johnson to present for the free virtual conference offered to professionals in place of the SHAPE Conference. She redesigned her presentation and delivered it through a screencast lecture with accompanied handouts.

The presentation highlights a publication that Prof. Johnson has been developing for almost a year — a comprehensive guide to completing the Educative Teacher Performance Assessment (edTPA) in physical education. The Physical Education edTPA Online Preparation Guide is a collaboration between Prof. Johnson and alumnus Nicholas Brummit ’18, and serves as step-by-step workbook to support students completing their edTPA to obtain a license to teach physical education. It will be available for purchase in the fall of 2020.
