Improvements Coming To Payroll
By Scot Ecker
Carthage will be transitioning to a new payroll model at the end of 2014. For many years we have contracted with a company called ADP to process the payroll information that we submit to them. As a part of our normal review of procedures we believe that we can operate more efficiently, provide better customer service and save money by moving all payroll functions “in house.” We hope to complete this transition by January 1, 2015. This will have very little impact on current Carthage employees; however, there are a few things to be aware of:
1) Eventually, the way that you access your direct deposit information will change when we transition from ADP’s Ipay to a new system. We believe the change will be a better experience for you and we will keep you updated on progress in the coming months.
2) We will be using some of the savings created by eliminating ADP to restructure our payroll staff. Heather Dill has been hired as a new Payroll Specialist. She will report to Justin Zahn who remains the Manager of Payroll and Benefits.
3) Heather’s primary responsibilities will be to process the payroll and be the first point of contact for employees with payroll questions.
4) Justin will be overseeing the initial transition to our new payroll system. Following that he will continue to assist with payroll as well as devote additional time assisting faculty and staff with questions about benefits and ensure Carthage is fully complying with state and federal taxation and reporting requirements.
Heather Dill will be starting at Carthage on June 9. Heather has extensive payroll experience and comes to Carthage from Rolling Hills Manor, an assisted living facility in Zion, Illinois, where she is currently the payroll manager. Heather and her family live in Pleasant Prairie.
