On Thursday, May 21, Prof. Jeremy Ryan Mossman and the Music Theatre faculty held a virtual toast for the undergraduate Music Theatre Class of 2020. Memories were shared, inspirational speeches were recited, poetry was read, and motivational words about moving into a world that was already fraught with uncertainty pre-pandemic.

Music Theatre faculty were later joined by the voice faculty, choral directors, and Theatre faculty who all added eloquent words of wisdom.

Three Carthage Music Theatre alumni, Rachel Page, Alex Campeau, and Andrew Stachurski joined the call to discuss life after Carthage, their journey as artists, how their Liberal Arts education has helped them, and more.

The final guest was George Abud, long-time student and friend of Mossman, who has found success on Broadway in “The Visit” with Chita Rivera, the 2018 10-time Tony Award winning “The Band’s Visit,” and most recently the star of off-Broadway’s, “Emojiland,” for which Abud was nominated for a 2020 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical. Abud shared his time generously, and spoke on pursuing performing as a profession, being an artist while quarantined, and on the origins and motivating value of fear.
