Vatistas Vatistas leaving Carthage
I am sure many of you are already aware, but last week Vatistas Vatistas informed me he will be leaving Carthage to join College of Lake County as a Director of Financial Aid. This opportunity benefits Vee and his family in several ways. In that regard, I am very happy for him. On the other hand, Vee has worked closely with us for the last 13 years as a trusted Financial Aid Director, colleague, and friend. He was a beloved figure on campus with both students, staff and faculty due to his passion of helping those in need. He will be deeply missed.
Vee will be with us through July 3, and a transition plan is already underway. We are meeting over the course of this week to determine who will be covering which of Vee’s responsibilities. Several members of the Financial Aid team have all graciously offered to step up and do whatever it takes to make sure there are no gaps. We will also be depending on the help of the rest of the team in Student Financial Services to get us through this time as we develop a long-term strategy for the office.
Vee has been an extremely integral part of the success we’ve seen in Enrollment and Financial Aid over the years. His help in working with me to develop a leveraged financial aid strategy, helping Carthage become a No. 1 destination for veterans, his dedication to retention and helping students with financial need, his impeccable record on audits and compliance, and his absolute willingness to regularly meet with students to provide that special, individual one-on-one contact have all propelled us to record heights. Please thank him and wish him the best.
Anyone with questions about our transition plan should feel free to reach out to me or Jeff Teague, Associate Director of Financial Aid.
