Luther’s Lunchbox is a stop-and-go supplemental food program for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It’s available to Carthage students whether they are residential, living off campus, or commuters. The lunchbox is located in the A. F. Siebert Chapel near the balcony steps closest to the Hedberg Library patio.

Luther's LunchboxThe shelves are stocked with non-perishable food items:

  • single-serve microwave soups, pastas, and other meal items
  • breakfast and snack bars
  • cereal and oatmeal bowls
  • fruit snacks and fruit in a cup
  • assorted snack items
  • and other items (as donated)

Luther’s Lunchbox is meant to be supplemental; it is not a food pantry. Students are asked to take one to two items at a time, if there is a need between classes when there may not be time for a meal in one of our dining spaces. If needed, students may heat food items in microwaves located in Ehrler Hospitality Center (located in the northwest corner of the A. F. Siebert Chapel) or in Donna’s Bytes.

The lunchbox is supported through donations from the Carthage community, including faculty, staff, and alumni. Additional donations may come from the surrounding community — all to support our students. It is managed through the Center for Faith and Spirituality.
