JustGiving provides a platform for faculty and student groups to fundraise for programs, equipment, travel, or other needs.

To set up a crowdfunding campaign, student leaders or a faculty advisor will complete the application found below and on The Harbor website. Your crowdfunding page will require you to describe your funding needs, set a goal, and provide an image or video. Once built, faculty and student-participants can share the crowdfunding site on social media and directly with parents, friends, and alumni.

Staff in the Office of Institutional Advancement are available to help each step of the way.

  • To set up a crowdfunding campaign, complete the application
  • All projects must have an approved college account set up through Finance and Administrative Services to which donations can be accepted and distributed.
  • Projects must support Carthage College’s programs and initiatives and cannot be redirected to a third-party, external charity, or other non-profit. In other words, Carthage can’t raise money to donate somewhere else (IRS rules, not ours).
  • Fundraising goals of less than $5,000 are recommended for this platform.
  • A good rule of thumb is that each student-participant will raise about $100. For example, if 20 students participate in Merely Players Improv and want to bring a professional comedian to campus to help them improve their craft, they should set their fundraising goal at $2,000.
  • Lower goals, once met, can always be increased.
