Do you need a writing intensive course for spring semester? There are seats available in SWK 400FW: Trauma Across Social Contexts.

In this course, you will learn the latest research on the effects of trauma across the lifespan as well as its deleterious effects across generations, on organizations, and in communities. You will also learn about effective strategies for intervening with individuals, families, and communities impacted by the trauma of abuse, neglect, neighborhood/gun violence, war, genocide, natural disasters, and more.

This course has great relevance for students majoring in social work, psychology, nursing and other healthcare specialties, education, criminal justice, sociology, neuroscience, women and gender studies, nonprofit management, and more.

This course will emphasize trauma-sensitive writing practices and effective development of organizational proposals to build capacity for addressing trauma in professional practice settings. It will be delivered in a hybrid model of instruction, and the class will meet from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays in-person (although remote participation will also be accommodated). There will be an additional hour of video-based self-study and related discussion board assignment for students to complete each week.
