Office of Equity and Inclusion series: Java & Justice and ‘I Belong Here’
Carthage’s Student Affairs Office of Equity and Inclusion has transformed a previous dialogue series, Java & Justice, and created a brand new series, “I Belong Here,” for the Carthage community.
Java & Justice
Java & Justice will now spotlight individuals who are engaging in social justice work in their professions or in their lives. Many of the individuals we will interview are Carthage alumni. The series is designed to be engaging, inspirational, and motivational for viewers.
On Nov. 12, Director of Equity and Inclusion Roger Moreano interviewed Clementine Bordeaux ’06. They covered a host of topics that centralized Indigenous voices and experiences in honor of National Native American Heritage Month. Ms. Bordeaux addressed a myriad of topics, but some of the highlights included her experiences at Carthage, the importance of land, culture, and the arts.
“I Belong Here”
Carthage’s Intercultural Center for Equity, Advocacy, and Engagement and the Center for Faith and Spirituality partnered together in the new “I Belong Here” series, which documents Carthaginians experiences and explains why Carthage is home. A current student, Krishna Patel ’22, was the first student featured in the series.
