Levi Latoz ?20 Recent Carthage alumnus Levi Latoz ’20 has been selected for a Fulbright English teaching assistantship in Taiwan.

The fellowship sets the stage for a future career.

“My hope is to work in some capacity in correspondence with individuals, businesses, or governments interested in interacting properly with the societies of Southeast Asia,” he said.

An international political economy major from Georgetown, Illinois, Levi made the most of his time at Carthage. International competitions with Model United Nations had a major impact on him.

“This ability to represent other countries of the world has widened my perspective of global affairs today,” he said. “It has given students purpose in taking the time to try and understand the unique cultures of the modern world.”

Levi has prior experience in student fellowships. In fall 2018, he served as a Campus Election Engagement Fellow with the Campus Election Engagement Project, a national nonpartisan project.

Congratulations to Levi on his Fulbright placement!

Established in 1946, the Fulbright Program aims to increase mutual understanding between the peoples of the United States and other countries through the exchange of persons, knowledge, and skills. The Fulbright Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, and fellowships are available to American students wishing to spend a year or more abroad after college to teach, conduct scholarly research, or engage in creative projects. During this present uncertain time, many international programs have been suspended. However, we can expect that they will resume in the future; therefore, Carthage students interested in the Fulbright opportunity should contact Professor Dan Choffnes, Fulbright Program Adviser.
