Mark your calendars for this year’s Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) workshops, which will be held virtually over three days:

  • Monday, Aug. 23: 9 a.m.-noon
  • Tuesday Aug. 24: 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Aug. 25: 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

This three-day workshop series is the required means by which faculty become certified to teach Writing Intensive (WI) courses such as Intellectual Foundations. Faculty who have attended in the past are invited, though not required, to join us again.

WAC workshops provide faculty with support on topics ranging from planning a WI course to responding to student writing. Upon completion of the three-day workshop series, each first-time participant will receive a $250.00 stipend and will be eligible to teach WI courses. 

Monday, Aug. 23 workshop

The workshop will kick off on Monday, Aug. 23 with a keynote workshop led by Professor Elizabeth Wardle, Roger and Joyce Howe Distinguished Professor of Written Communication at Miami University (Ohio).

Tuesday, Aug. 24 and Wednesday, Aug. 25 workshops

Tuesday, Aug. 24 and Wednesday, Aug. 25 all-day workshops will offer targeted support to faculty preparing to teach or develop WI courses. Stay tuned for more information on the itinerary for those days!

Summer workshops

This summer also features additional programming for those who want to spend some time thinking about writing pedagogy.

  • “Fail again. Fail better: Using Process Writing, Feedback, and Revision to Enhance Student Learning”
