Sports Journalism: Baseball — Sign up for the summer 2022 study tour by TODAY

J-Term 2019: Sports Journalism: BaseballLooking for a J-Term course? Interested in baseball, journalism, working in sports, or just a trip to sunny California? The 2022 study tour Sports Journalism: Baseball has spots available. The deadline for signing up is Friday, Oct. 15.

DESTINATION

California (San Fransisco, Oakland, Los Angeles, and San Diego)

DATES

Travel will be May 25-June 5, 2022. This course counts as a J-Term class, but takes place in the summer.

INSTRUCTORS

Professor Jon Bruning (communication and digital media) and Professor Carter Rockhill (sports management) will lead the trip.

ABOUT THIS COURSE

Students will engage in sports journalism as they attend baseball games in San Diego, Los Angeles, Oakland, and San Francisco, California. Students will learn several forms of sports journalism including blogs, podcasting, photojournalism, and social media. The study tour includes attendance at least five major league games, other sports games (as available), meetings with professional sports journalists and baseball industry insiders, and behind-the-scenes stadium tours. The course is designated as Writing Intensive. It’s a great course for any students interested in writing about or working in sports.

Estimated cost: $1,700
