Prof. Melissa Cardamone helps launch Kenosha Opera Festival inaugural season
Melissa Cardamone, adjunct assistant professor of music, was an accompanist and coach for the Kenosha Opera Festival this past summer. The program, in its first year, provided training and performance opportunities for young singers, as well as producing a semi-staged concert version of “La Fille du Regiment,” an opera by Donizetti, performed by guest artists with the young artist opera fellows serving in the chorus and in small roles.
Prof. Cardamone played for outreach concerts at Kenosha hot spots such as the Kenosha Creative Space and Rustic Road Brewery, as well as a guest artist recital at First United Methodist Church. The festival was headed up by Carthage Alumni, Nick Huff ’15 and Kaila Bingen ’15, M.M. ’20, and included a performance of Professor Greg Berg’s opera “Birds of a Feather.”
Prof. Cardamone was proud to assist in bringing high quality opera to her hometown and was thrilled at the opportunity to work with such talented artists and collaborators in this project.
