Christmas Festival is this weekend!Join us at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, in the A. F. Siebert Chapel for the Carthage Christmas Festival dress rehearsal. This event is free and open to Carthage faculty, staff, and students. You must obtain your reserved seating ticket in advance by going to the Fine Arts Box Office between noon and 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday with your Carthage I.D. You are able to bring guests.

The event is limited seating, so we cannot guarantee walk-up tickets.

Featuring the majestic sounds of the Fritsch Memorial Organ, the annual Carthage Christmas Festival follows an age-old tradition of sharing the celebration of the birth of Christ through scripture readings and music. Each evening includes performances by students across many academic disciplines as members of the Carthage Choir, Carthage Treble Choir, Carthage Chorale, Lincoln Chamber Singers, Wind Orchestra, and Carthage Philharmonic.

This year’s theme, “Come to Us, Abide with Us” is inspired by the fourth verse of the Christmas carol “O Little Town of Bethlehem” — “We hear the Christmas angels the great glad tidings tell. O come to us, abide with us, our Lord Emmanuel.” The lyrics of this carol contain numerous hope-filled phrases that can be directly related to the events of the past year. As always, the festival will conclude with the annual Service of Light, a breathtaking and unforgettable moment when the lofty chapel is filled with sparkling candlelight.

Tickets to the Christmas Festival on Friday, Dec. 3 through Sunday, Dec. 5 are sold out. Those who were unable to obtain tickets are welcome to join us for the dress rehearsal on Thursday, Dec. 2 or join us from home through our livestream.
