The Carthage community is invited to the screening of “Walking to Werner,” winner of the Best Documentary Special Jury Prize at the 2006 Seattle International Film Festival, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, in the Campbell Student Union Auditorium.

Inspired by Werner Herzog films and Mr. Herzog’s book “Of Walking in Ice,” the film documents Linas Phillips’ experiences while walking 1,200 miles to meet Werner Herzog. View the movie trailer below.

After the screening, Linas Phillips will join us via Zoom for a conversation about the film and his experiences as a filmmaker, writer, actor, and teacher. Mr. Phillips other films include “Bass Ackwards” (2010 Sundance Film Festival) and “Rainbow Time.” As an actor, he has appeared in “Twin Peaks,” “Eastbound & Down,” “Togetherness,” and “Manson Family Vacation.” As the “screenplay doula,” Mr. Phillips teaches a character based form of screenwriting by applying techniques drawn from notable spiritual teachers and drama therapy. This is a special event in the Visiting Writers Series and is open to the Carthage community.
