Professor Jojin Van Winkle’s screenplay “Tanked” was awarded Best Script at the Reykjavik Independent Film Festival (Iceland) on Feb. 22.

Jojin Van Winkle Jojin Van Winkle Currently, this dramedy is a finalist for the upcoming summer 2022 International Screenwriting Competition (New York, N.Y.) and is an official selection for Hamburg Film Awards (Germany).

“Tanked” was a semi finalist for the Frances Bell Film Screenwriting Competition (London, United Kingdom); a finalist and an official selection for the Shawna Shea Memorial Film Festival held in Sturbridge, Mass. on Sept. 21-25, 2021; a runner up and official selection for the KinoDrome: International Motion Picture and Screenplay Festival held in Cleveland, Ohio on Sept. 26, 2021; and a finalist and official selection for the Vesusvius International Film Festival (Campania, Italy).

Additionally, since summer 2021, “Tanked” has been selected for numerous national and international film festivals: the Focus International Film Festival in Las Vegas, Nev.; the Shortz-Films program for independent filmmakers; and an official selection for the Festival Angaelica base out of Pasadena, Cal. “Tanked” was awarded the Best Original Short Script by the Gothamite monthly film awards (New York, N.Y.) for Aug. 2021, an Honorable Mention for the Like It Film Festival (USA), the Best Short Screenplay for Art Film Award Monthly Film Awards, Skopje, Macedonia, Republic of the Former Yugoslavia, along with awards in other competitions.

Prof. Van Winkle is a visual artist, filmmaker, writer, and assistant professor of art at Carthage, teaching foundations and new media. She is the program director for Carthage’s Photography and Film and New Media Program. Her research centers around the practice of listening. She exhibited large-scale installation art before working in video, film, photography, and sound.
