KENOSHA, Wis. — In the final weekend of competition before the NCAA Championships, the Carthage men's track and field team hosted the Firebird Finale in the Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center, while a few members of the team began competing at the Wartburg NCAA Qualifier on Friday evening.
Carthage aimed to improve upon their performances for the 2022 indoor season before the national championship meet, highlighted by Joseph White's throw in the weight. At Wartburg, the DMR team nearly topped the school record.
A select number of Firebirds will compete in day two at the Wartburg NCAA Qualifier tomorrow, while Alex Jarvis will head to the Ripon NCAA Final Qualifier to compete in the triple jump.
"Today was a low-key meet for a majority of the team to go out and have some fun before we gear up the training in preparation for the outdoor season. Matt and Joseph had another chance to fine-tune some things as we get ready for nationals next week. Joseph had a fantastic day in the weight, breaking his own school record three times. We are excited to see how next weekend goes down in Winston-Salem, N.C.
