How did you spend your Thanksgiving Break? Thirty-four Model United Nations students, accompanied by Professor Jeffrey Roberg and Professor Jerald Mast, spent four days of their break in Chicago participating in the American Model United Nations (AMUN) Conference.

With very little sleep, but good diplomatic skills, our students tackled issues of international importance such as: Afghanistan, arms transfers, industrial development, internally displaced persons, landmines, Palestinian refugees, nuclear weapons in the Middle East, sexual orientation and gender identity, empowerment of rural women, responsibility of men in gender equality, and sustainable energy.

Carthage Model UN students competed in a field of 1,573 students from 97 universities and colleges across the United States and four countries, who represented 141 countries at the conference. In the process, Carthage Model UN won seven awards at AMUN!
