Passionate about photography or film? Want to learn more about camera lenses?

The Photography and Film and New Media Program is offering an Optics/Lens Workshop for Carthage students from 4:10 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 7, in studio 219 of the H. F. Johnson Center for the Fine Arts.

Only 12 spots are available for this hands-on workshop.

New York-based photographer and Canon U.S.A. Inc. representative Lisa Gualtieri Alford will walk you through everything you need to know about camera lenses, including the best types of lenses for sports photography and the basics of lenses used in filmmaking.

In this workshop, you will get to try out various Canon cameras and lenses (macro, zoom, prime, and cinema). You will learn about when to use a particular lens, along with more details on focal length and aperture. You will have an overview of structure of a lens, including elements, coating, USM, image stabilizer, and much more.

This workshop is free to Carthage students and supported by Canon.
