The Performing Arts Series’ 25th anniversary concludes with the Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble Chanticleer at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 22, in the A. F. Siebert Chapel.

Chanticleer Masks are required for this concert.

Known around the world as “an orchestra of voices,” Chanticleer inspires and amazes their audiences with their ever-changing repertoire and musical expertise. The ensemble consists of twelve male voices ranging from bass to soprano. These vocal singers are based in San Francisco, but they tour the world, performing in concert halls and churches everywhere they go.

Despite their collection of musical works being deeply rooted in the Renaissance era, Chanticleer has expanded to include a wide range of gospel, jazz, classical, and other popular music genres. With their diverse repertoire and musical talent, the Chanticleer performance is sure to have their audience feeling excited and awed!

Named after a clear singing rooster in the Canterbury Tales, Chanticleer debuted on June 27, 1968, in San Francisco. After hearing the cheering from their audience and experiencing the exhilaration of performing, this non-profit organization decided to continue rehearsing, doubling down on their practice time to reach their goals. Chanticleer has received a Grammy Award for their performance and recording off “Lamentations & Praises” by Sir John Tavener. The ensemble has also received the Dale Warland/Chorus America Commissioning Award, ASCAP/Chorus America Award, and the Brazeal Wayne Dennard Award.

Despite their schedules filled with concerts and performances, this acapella group finds time to educate people who aspire to be musicians with an educational outreach program that has over 8,000 students.
