Prof. Rebekah Johnson presents at the 2022 SHAPE America National Conference.
All Stories

Professor Rebekah Johnson recently presented her published work at the 2022 SHAPE America National Conference in New Orleans.

The SHAPE America convention is a gathering of health and physical educators as well as college and university faculty from around the country. Prof. Johnson presented on how to plan and evaluate the implementation of the Educative Teacher Performance Assessment (edTPA) in physical education teacher education (PETE) programs. Many PETE faculty were in attendance to learn and collaborate on the challenges facing their program’s implementation of the assessment.

Prof. Johnson published the Physical Education edTPA Online Preparation Guide in October 2020. During the pandemic, many state licensing bodies reviewed the use of the assessment in their states. Although Wisconsin’s Department of Public Instruction dropped the requirement, other states such as Texas are ramping up for full implementation. The PE edTPA Guide serves as an essential component for many programs’ implementation of edTPA.
