Five Carthage faculty and staff members attend the 2022 Vocation of Lutheran Higher Education Conference
Five Carthage faculty and staff members attended this year’s Vocation of Lutheran Higher Education Conference on July 18-20, at Augsburg University in Minneapolis.
There, they learned more about the Network of ELCA Colleges and Universities and its mission for students to “discover through education in body, mind, and spirit that they are called and empowered to serve the neighbor so that all may flourish.”
Led by Pastor Kara Baylor; Professor Julius Crump, Coach Seth Weidmann, Melissa Burwell, and Karin Graves were challenged to identify the best methods to energize the Carthage community for the benefit of a rich equity, inclusion, and justice footprint. The team also learned the necessities of a vocation tool kit, and they look forward to opportunities to unpack its potential.
The Vocation of Lutheran Higher Education Conference is held every year at Augsburg University. Pastor Baylor is looking for members of the Carthage community to attend the next conference. The 2023 theme is “So that Educators, Too, May Flourish” and will be held in July. Contact Pastor Baylor at kbaylor@carthage.edu if you would like to attend or want to know more about the theme.
