2022 Homecoming Concert Join us for our annual Homecoming Concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, in the A. F. Siebert Chapel. The concert will feature performances by the Carthage Treble Choir, Carthage Choir, Wind Orchestra, and alumna and former Miss America Laura Kaeppler ’10.

The annual Homecoming Concert has a longstanding tradition of celebrating our music alumni with featured soloists, as well as occasionally bringing graduates from our ensembles back to perform with the current students. This year, we are recognizing the 40th anniversary of the formation of the Treble Choir, which was formed in in 1982. Former members of the choir will join with Professor Peter Dennee in several selections, including special arrangements that will be performed with Laura Kaeppler ’10, former Miss America.

In addition, the Carthage Choir will welcome back alumni to help launch the new era of the choir with their new director, Professor Margaret Burk. Prof. Burk joins the Carthage faculty this year after completing her DMA in Choral Conducting at the University of Michigan. As the newly-appointed director of choral activities, she will oversee the choral area, conduct the Carthage Choir, and teach undergraduate music coursework in conducting and education.

The program will begin with selections by the Carthage Wind Orchestra under the direction of Professor James Ripley. Martin Ellerby’s “Wessex Dances” will be given its commission premiere to open the concert, followed by Julian Work’s “Autumn Walk” as part of the Wind Orchestra’s Black Composers Matter Initiative. “Merry Music” by Fryges Hidas closes the instrumental portion of the concert.

This event is free and open to the public (no tickets required). Guests can also join us from home through our livestream.
