  1. Utilizing strong analytical and critical thinking skills, design queries and metrics for data analysis, campaign monitoring, and strategic goal achievement, including but not limited to all gift, pledge, donor, and alumni reporting within and external to IA.
  2. Ensure that organizational strategy is informed by sound data which includes developing reports, structures, and support offerings to promote effective and efficient fundraising.
  3. Serve as chief data strategist for department. Advise on the development of IA’s technical vision and strategic technology plans. Plan and oversee short and long-term improvements to all functions related to advancement data, including data migrations and the selection of subscription databases/services.
  4. Analyze database for data quality control, isolating issues for investigation and developing methods applied in data clean up.


  1. Ensure that gift, pledge and biographical data are entered consistently, accurately, and in accordance with Federal and State regulations, College policies, CASE standards, and best practices. Direct staff in the timeliness and accuracy of gift receipts to donors, as well as benchmarks and reports on gift receipting production in accordance with IRS and CASE standards.
  2. Hire, supervise, train, and evaluate Advancement Services Department personnel. Manage a strong team and ensure cross-training on all team functions in the areas of gift entry, biographic entry, and reports that support these functions.


  1. Manage data normalization for common data shared with other campus offices.


  1. Facilitate access and provide training on the College’s fundraising database (Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge) for IA and related staff.


  1. Serve as liaison to Finance Office for oversight of gift-related data feeds and associated balancing, gift processing mechanisms, online giving functionality and gift-related financial reporting.


  1. Nurture a customer-service ethic among members of the Advancement Services team. Seek feedback from internal customers and drive constant improvement. (5%)


  1. Complete other duties as assigned.



  1. Serve as department liaison to LIS.
  2. Support campus events as needed.



Directly supervise approximately five student employees or interns. Carry out supervisory duties in accordance with college policies and applicable employment laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Requires education generally equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • Requires 3 to 5 years of related experience, such as analysis, business, and/or database management.
  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with employees, students, and faculty members.
  • Requires excellent supervisory skills to lead a small team of student workers.
  • Requires the ability to use a personal computer, Web browser, Raiser’s Edge, Microsoft Office Suite, SQL editor, XML editor, and other subscription databases.
  • Requires exceptional analysis, troubleshooting, and critical thinking skills.

Work is performed in an office environment in a variety of work locations throughout the Carthage Campus. The noise level in the work environment is moderate and typical of a campus office environment. This may vary depending on work travel environments.
