WSGC Rocket Teams Finish Strong
- 1st Place - University of Wisconsin - Platteville - Pioneer Rocketry
- Coolest Looking Design – Milwaukee School of Engineering – Raider Rocketeers
- Best Adaptable Rocket Design – University of Wisconsin – River Falls
Each year, a dozen or more schools travel to North Branch, Minnesota to participate in the annual Midwest High Power Rocketry Competition hosted by the Minnesota Space Grant Consortium. Four Wisconsin teams competed in this year’s competition: Milwaukee School of Engineering, Univeristy of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Wisconsin-River Falls, and University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
In this competition college/university student teams designed and constructed an “adaptable” single stage, dual deploy high-power rocket system that flew to the same highest possible altitude on two motors (one I-class and one J-class, or else one J-class and one K-class) that was as different as possible from one another.
Students competed May 20-22, 2017. WSGC supports three teams in the competition, providing $2,400 for registration, project, and travel expenses.
