Prof. Kuehn Authors Physics Text

Dr. Kerry Kuehn, Associate Professor of Physics at Wisconsin Lutheran College is the author of A Student’s Guide Through the Great Physics Texts Volume I: The Heavens and the Earth and Volume II: Space, Time and Motion.

The recipient of WSGC grants, Dr. Kuehn provides a comprehensive introduction to physics based on classic texts in physics and astronomy.  The Great Physics Texts provides a general physics curriculum for undergraduate and advanced high-school students.  The text can also provide study in natural science, philosophy, and history.

Volume III: Electricity, Magnetism and Light and Volume IV: Heat, Atoms and Quanta are due to be released December 12, 2015.

“Kuehn (Wisconsin Lutheran College) attempts to cover the gamut of knowledge discerned by astronomers and physicists over many centuries, ranging from the distant skies to the atom. … Kuehn then elaborates on crucial questions and provides students with exercises and a few experimental/observational activities. … Copious notes, good references, diagrams and illustrations. Summing Up: Recommended. Lower- and upper-division undergraduates and researchers/faculty.” (N. Sadanand, Choice, Vol. 52 (9), May, 2015)

Kerry Kuehn is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at Wisconsin Lutheran College. He is a member of the American Physical Society and an Advisory Council member for NASA Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium and Fidelitas (WLC Honors Program). In 2011, he was awarded the Frank G. Brewer Civil Air Patrol Memorial Aerospace Award, “For outstanding contributions, out of selfless devotion, to the advancement of youth in aerospace activities.”

He has designed and taught courses including “The Heavens and the Earth,” “Space, Time and Motion,” “Electricity, Magnetism and Light,” and “Computerized Instrumentation and Design.”
