POSITION: Financial Aid Coordinator
CLASSIFICATION: Staff | Full-time
WORK WEEK: 40 Hours | Monday - Thursday 8:00a - 5:00p Friday 8:00a - 4:30p
REPORTS TO: Director of Financial Aid

PURPOSE:

The Financial Aid Coordinator, under the direction of the Director of Financial Aid provides financial aid counseling and administrative support duties to facilitate the operation of the office of Student Financial Services. The Financial Aid Coordinator assists in coordinating activities with other departments, outside agencies, and the campus community.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

● Provide exceptional customer service in all job functions/interactions

● Provide guidance and counsel to students and families regarding Title IV and Institutional aid

● Complete FAFSA Verification of incoming and corrected ISIRS within ED regulation

● Review Professional Judgment paperwork and complete ISIR corrections

● Assist with Endowment Awarding

● Coordinate the PLUS loan process including but not limited to assisting families and GRAD students with applications, awarding and reconciliation

● Process and administer Alternative loans, collaborate with the Student Financial Service Coordinator for disbursement and reconciliation

● Coordinate the Federal Direct Loan process including but not limited to awarding, tracking entrance and MPN receipt and reconciliation

● Responsible for staying current on financial aid policy changes and monitoring/auditing student files for compliance

● Maintain FERPA compliance

● Assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor(s)

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION / EXPERIENCE):

● Bachelor’s Degree and equivalent experience, plus relevant specialized training

● Minimum of 5 years in Higher Education

SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS:

● Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) basic applications

● Ability to learn technological applications

● General office skills

● Excellent communication skills

● Ability to relate effectively with students, staff members, and office visitors

● Ability to work in a fast paced, highly quality-focused service environment with excellent organizational skills and a professional manner

● Ability to take directions and use independent judgment

● Ability to work in a safe and secure work environment that may periodically have unpredicted requirements or demands

● Ability to use small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems
