Katiann Nelson ?23 clarinet recital ?The Other Half? poster. Katiann Nelson ’23 will perform her clarinet recital “The Other Half” at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, in the H. F. Johnson Recital Hall.

The recital will focus on pieces by women, the “other half” of composers who historically have had less recognition than their male counterparts. She will be joined for a few pieces by soprano singer Peg Cleveland and pianist Melissa Cardamone.

Throughout the night, Katiann will perform several pieces, including two by modern composers: “I never saw another butterfly” by Lori Laitman with Prof. Cleveland and “Sonata for clarinet and piano” by Valerie Coleman with Prof. Cardamone. Additionally, she will perform “Concerto for Clarinet” by Aaron Copland and a clarinet arrangement of “Three Piano Preludes” by George Gershwin, along with “Three Romances” by the prolific Romantic composer Clara Schumann.

This recital is free and open to the public. The concert is also viewable from home through our livestream.
