Original music for the production was created by Prof. Bingen’s wife, Kaila — who earned a Master of Music in Music Theatre Vocal Pedagogy and the Bachelor of Arts in Violin and Choral Music Education at Carthage. Mrs. Bingen has composed music for multiple Carthage performances, including original music for the recent production of “Frontline.”

While a student at Carthage, Prof. Bingen was able to pursue multiple interests, including computer science and theatre. He appeared onstage in several productions and worked backstage as he pursued a theatre major. His thesis work combined his theatre and computer science skills, creating a way for Afghanistan/Wisconsin prop guns to have a live sound effect using wifi and Raspberry Pi computers.

After graduation, Prof. Bingen went on to earn his master’s degree in computer science from Georgia Tech, and in 2019, he was hired to teach computer science at Carthage. Prof. Bingen has continued to be active in theatre in communities, including serving on the board of the Kenosha Opera Festival and performing and writing new pieces.
