Help students get textbooks: Make a gift to the Big Red Book Fund
With the start of the semester, students’ need for textbooks and course materials is at its highest. The inflation rate for textbooks is three times that of regular inflation. This means that year after year, it becomes harder and harder for our students to afford their education.
At Carthage, we have a program designed to help get textbooks into the hands of students who cannot afford them. The Big Red Book Fund was created in 2018 and has since aided countless students in securing the materials they need to succeed at Carthage. Through this program, students can request to borrow the donated textbooks one semester at a time through the Hedberg Library. The more books we have available through the library, the more students we can help!
This Red and Ready Giving Day, Thursday, March 30, we have been challenged to raise $5,000 for the Big Red Book Fund. When we reach our goal, Carthage alumna Kathy Felton ’88 and trustee Chuck Sutton will double the impact! We want to make sure students are able to get the support they need when they need it, so we are opening this challenge early!
