Kenosha Verbatim project poster The Carthage Theatre Department will present a one-night-only staged reading of the Kenosha Verbatim Project at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 20, in the Wartburg Theatre.

Carthage students Rayven Craft ’23 and Katherine Layendecker ’24, along with professors Martin McClendon and Nora Carroll, embarked on a unique Summer Undergraduate Research Experience project this summer.

They interviewed a dozen people about their experiences during the unrest in Kenosha following the shooting of Jacob Blake in August 2020. The team took almost 20 hours of interview recordings and edited them down to a 90-minute presentation, which will be read by a group of local actors at Carthage.

Tickets are free and no reservations are required. The play is also a participant in World Premiere Wisconsin, an initiative that highlights brand new plays being produced right here in Wisconsin.
