All Stories

Welcome back! We are excited to begin another semester together and welcome our new Firebirds to campus.

It was great to see so many of you at the Teaching and Learning Conference. We hope the information we shared at the conference helped to (re)orient you to using Workday to support common faculty processes like viewing your teaching schedule and viewing your class roster(s).

Workday Student Fall Timeline

This is an exciting semester as we reach the culmination of our Workday implementation. Below is a high-level timeline of when new functionality will be available in Workday.

Systems Demonstrations

We ask that you also stay engaged with us throughout the fall semester as new functionality is released in Workday. We will provide opportunities to see demonstrations of the system and the new modules before you begin to use them. See below for the schedule of upcoming demonstration sessions. Faculty and staff only need to attend one session per topic area.

Teaching Dashboard and Training Resources Sessions
The Teaching Dashboard and Training Resources Sessions will provide an opportunity for faculty to learn more about navigating the system to increase awareness and usability of the currently available functionality and reports. Note: additional functionality and data will be available in the system throughout the fall.

Some of you may have joined us for the informational session during the Teaching and Learning Conference. We will also have optional demo sessions again on the following days:

  • Wednesday, Aug, 23: Noon, Zoom
  • Friday, Aug. 25: 1 p.m., Zoom
  • Monday, Aug. 28: 4 p.m., Hedberg Library 170 (feel free to bring your computer and follow along in this session)

Advising and Interim Grades Demonstration Sessions
During this session, the Office of the Registrar staff will demonstrate functionality, now available in Workday, to support advising — including the Advising app and dashboard, how to view a student’s academic progress report, and a brief overview of the Academics tab on a student’s profile. Additionally, they will demonstrate how faculty enter interim grades in Workday.

  • Thursday, Sept. 14: Noon-1 p.m., Zoom
  • Friday, Sept. 15: Noon-1 p.m., Zoom
  • Thursday, Sept. 21: Noon-1 p.m., Zoom
  • Friday, Sept. 22: Noon-1 p.m., Zoom

Training Resources

To support your continued knowledge building and use of Workday, on-demand training content is now available in Workday. The quicklinks to the training and resources are available directly from your Teaching app in Workday.

Live Porter Report

Join us at noon Thursday, Sept. 7 for our fall Live Porter Report. The Workday project team will provide an update on the work that was completed this summer and a preview of what you can expect this fall. The Live Porter Report will be hosted on Zoom.

Student Resources and Support

The Workday project team continues to support students as they also transition fully into Workday. On-demand training resources are available to students on the Workday@Carthage website. Communication was shared with the students and their parents/families over the summer. A targeted communication will be sent to the students at the start of the term, and we will make sure you receive a copy of that communication so that you can provide another level of support to the students. Information will also be shared on The Bridge in the coming weeks.

We look forward to seeing you at a demonstration session soon.
