Assistant Professor of Graphic Design
The Department of Communication and Digital Media seeks applications for a 3-year renewable contract appointment in graphic design, beginning Fall 2024. We are seeking an energetic candidate to work in a highly collaborative environment with a small but driven department to continue our solid track record of student success. Expected qualifications: master’s degree from an accredited college or university in graphic design or related field. Candidates with different academic preparation but with significant professional experience are also encouraged to apply. We encourage applications from a diverse pool of candidates with real-world experience who desire to teach professional skills in a liberal arts context.
Responsibilities will include teaching courses with a focus on graphic design, including some web design, and other courses based on the needs of the department and the faculty member’s expertise. In addition to teaching, faculty members are expected to take an active role in the recruitment and retention of students, along with portfolio reviews and advising. Interested candidates should apply with the following items: cover letter, statement of teaching or design philosophy, curriculum vitae, and a list of three references with full contact information.
All application materials (cover letter, teaching philosophy, CV, and list of three references) must be uploaded in a single PDF document through the Carthage website Applicant Pro platform. Candidates can submit additional materials such as a personal design portfolio, examples of student work or evaluations, etc. by emailing links to firstname.lastname@example.org. For best consideration, complete applications should be received by November 17, 2023. Questions about the search can be directed to Laura Huaracha, search chair, at email@example.com.
