Carthage TLEs participate in WAFLT 2023
Our Carthage Target Language Experts attended the Wisconsin Association for Language Teachers 2023 conference in Appleton, Wis. this past weekend.
French TLE Raghad Ali Al Dirani presented her master’s thesis lesson plan methodology, entitled “Applied Linguistics: Using Distributional Platforms to Teach Word Chunks,” in which she discussed how to engage students in the learning process of collocations such as tomber amoureux and faire les courses by using online corpora.
The methodology can be applied to any level of language teaching. Raghad argues that this methodology improves students’ second language proficiency. Please contact her at raldirani@carthage.edu for more information.
The Modern Languages Department supported this presentation. TLEs would like to express special thanks to Professor Jinny Lourigan and Professor Jammie Orth.
TLEs continue to enrich our community with their expertise in second language teaching and their multicultural and multilingual backgrounds. Carthage is proud of being home to TLEs who come from different countries such as Lebanon, China, Colombia, Mexico, Japan, Argentina, and Senegal.
