Travel to England for the Writers in Context study tour: Info session TODAY
Learn how you can participate in the 2025 J-Term study tour to England: Writers in Context: Reading Jane Austen’s “Persuasion” by attending an information sessions at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, in Lentz Hall 318.
This short-term study abroad course offers students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the cultural, historical, and geographic contexts of the literature they study. Each offering focuses on a specific work, author, or movement from the world of English literature and takes place in a location of relevance and importance to the works under study. This year, we will read “Persuasion,” Jane Austen’s novel of love, the sea, and second chances. The tour will include a week in Bath and a week in London, with excursions to Bristol, Lyme, Hampshire, and Portsmouth.
At the session, we will discuss the course; go over our tentative itinerary, costs, and other logistical details; answer any questions you may have; and let you know how to sign up. New transfer and first-year students are welcome!
If you cannot make the session and wish to express your interest, or if you have any questions, please send an email to Professor David García at dgarcia@carthage.edu or Professor Alyson Kiesel at akiesel@carthage.edu.
