Carthage provides an easy to use portfolio system that allows users to create and share items such as blogs, wikis, and journals. Want to get started? Point your browser to http://carthage.campuspack.net/.

The portfolios that are created are maintained by the user, who decides who will have access to their documents. Recently, this system has been used by the Personnel and Tenure Committee to review tenure, sabbatical, and promotion applications. While users can create their own content from scratch, a strong advantage to this system is that templates can be created to maintain consistency for a specific group of users.

Other uses of the portfolio system could include:

  • Departments gathering digital artifacts from students over a period of years
  • Individual classes creating content that can either be shared privately with the instructors, or the whole class
  • Departments maintaining and sharing internal documents, policies, and procedures that are specific to their needs
  • Students creating a portfolio of items that need to be evaluated to satisfy a specific requirement
