Daisy Bower awarded $17k Aerospace Engineering Scholarship

Physics major and Carthage Microgravity Team Member Daisy Bower ‘16 was recently awarded $17,425 in scholarship funds from the Sons of Norway in recognition of her promise as an aspiring scientist and engineer.
Dr. and Mrs. Arthur S. Jensen established this fund in memory of their remarkable daughter, Nancy Lorraine Jensen, an aerospace engineer/chemist at NASA, who died unexpectedly at age 35. The fund encourages female American citizens between 17 and 35 to apply for financial assistance for programs in chemistry or physics, or in chemical, electrical or mechanical engineering. The candidate, or parent/grandparent of the candidate, must be a current member of Sons of Norway.
The Sons of Norway is a National Organization with local chapters all over the United States with a common goal to promote and preserve Norwegian and Scandinavian heritage in the United States while protecting and helping all members financial or in time of need.
In addition to her physics major, Daisy in majoring in mathematics. She is from Taylor Ridge, Ill. Read about her recent trip to NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston with the 2013 Microgravity Team.
