Center for Student Success hosts Early Alert System Workshops Oct. 1-3

Have students already missed some of your classes? Are you hearing students discuss their frustrations with aspects of their academic or social lives at Carthage?

Are you worried about a student’s performance or engagement? Are you unsure about how to help a student who has come to you with a problem?

It’s not always clear how to react to these situations, or even whether we as faculty and staff should react. We now have a new tool to help us collect your concerns and observations about students, and connect students with people who can help them quickly thus improving their chances of succeeding at Carthage.

As a part of the ongoing Retention Initiative, the Center for Student Success, in collaboration with CADRE and the Provost’s Office, is providing workshops on our Early Alert and Notification system for faculty and staff. These sessions will focus on ways you can alert the Center for Student Success on student concerns, how to respond to requests for intervention, and provide education about the privacy and confidentiality of the system and our retention efforts.

Please come and join us!

Sessions will be held at the following times:

  • Oct. 1 — 11:40 a.m.-12:15 p.m., Troha Board Room in the Clausen Center

  • Oct 2 — 12:15-1 p.m., Ahrens Room, Lentz Hall

  • Oct. 3 — 8:30-9:15 a.m., Niemann Media Theatre
