All Stories

This week we are focusing on images by highlighting a unique database, Artstor, the leading provider for digital images of art and architecture ranging across various collections and eras. Artstor pulls together digital collections from the top libraries, museums, and universities in the world into one easily accessible platform.

Images range from botanical and zoological illustrations, to early manuscripts, to 360-dregree panoramas of Buddhist caves, to modern art. They are searchable by date, geography, classification, and media type. Images can be selected to compare side-by-side within Artstor. The intellectual property rights for all of the images have been cleared for educational use, and thus can be confidently used in class or presentations.

Artstor offers many extra features that enhance study of the images. These features include creating image groups that can be shared with students, instantly generated PowerPoint presentations, downloadable citations, and flashcard exam prep.

If you would like to learn more about Artstor, or one of the 162 other library databases, please contact Elizabeth Lang with your questions at elang@carthage.edu.
