Marie Sinco Warren is a cellist and teacher with a focus on outreach and youth advocacy. As a performer of contemporary music she has worked with composers such as Douglas Boyce and Augusta Read Thomas. She participated in the American premiere of the Müller Saxophone Trio (2009) and commissioned, premiered, and recorded Duncan Youngerman’s “Deja” for saxophone and cello (2010). In 2012 she participated in the new music collaboration tour with the Carolina International Orchestra and Chinese National Orchestra. From 2013-16 she was on the board of the East Side Chamber Players, a Milwaukee chamber series offering free concerts to the public.
Mrs. Warren’s primary collaboration is The Ardmore Duo, with violinist Laura Thompson. Together they perform classic and contemporary repertoire for the violin and cello, as well as collaborate with other artists such as Kai-i Tien (piano), and Olivia Musat (piano) among others. In 2015 she commissioned & premiered Aaron Lepley’s duo for violin and cello, “Tableau / Plateau / Rondeau” in Tampa, Florida with violinist Alyssa Yank. The piece was premiered as a larger tour throughout Florida. Regionally she’s performed with Camerata Milwaukee, a baroque chamber ensemble, MKE Follies, a show featuring a variety of art disciplines, & Cafe’ Sopra Mare, Sunday morning concerts at Villa Terrace Art Gallery. On a national level she’s participated in series such as Big Bend Chamber Music (Tallahassee, FL), Presbyterian of the Covenant (Greensboro, NC), Wireless! (Burlington, VT). Likewise, she has performed with orchestras such as the North Carolina Symphony, Greensboro Symphony, Tallahassee Symphony, Green Bay Symphony, and the Wisconsin Philharmonic.
In addition to her duties at Carthage College, Marie Sinco Warren is the Adjunct Professor of Cello at Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Likewise, she serves with the “Connections” program at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. This program provides full scholarship private & group lessons to inner city Milwaukee Public Schools. Previous work with youth has included Resident Advisor at Covenant House NYC (2011), Assistant Advocate at Pathfinders MKE (2012-13), faculty with the Greater Milwaukee ‘el Sistema’ (2012-14), as well as Adjunct Professor at Mount Mary University (2013-16).
Marie Sinco Warren earned a Bachelor of Music (B.M.) in cello performance from the University of South Florida, a Master of Music (M.M.) at Florida State University, and the Professional Artist Certificate (P.A.C.) at University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Her teachers were Michael Wiseman, Scott Kluksdahl, Gregory Sauer, and Brooks Whitehouse.
