Biography

Adam comes to Carthage from the Dekoven Foundation, where he served as events director. At the Dekoven Foundation, Adam was responsible for overseeing the planning and promotion of public and special events that generated revenue and advanced the Foundation’s mission. Prior to Dekoven, Adam worked for H&M for over 10 years, Most recently as a store manager in Chicago, Ill., overseeing a staff of 15-25 and an operation that generated over $5 million in annual sales. Adam also served as part of the North America global flagship team–specializing in logistics, visual displays, and styling. Adam’s other professional experiences include freelance art direction, fashion styling, photography, and working for noted fashion photographer Greg Kadel. Adam’s work has been featured in 2 Cents Magazine, MyMidwest Magazine, and the 2008 edition of Photographer’s Forum “Best of Photography”. Adam was also selected to participate in AICAD’s New York Studio Residency Program. Adam holds a bachelor of fine arts degree from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design.

Main responsibilities at Carthage

The Director of Advancement Programs oversees and directs college-wide events and donor relations activities and assists with prospect research within the Office of Institutional Advancement.

For college-wide events, the Director leads the planning, execution, and documentation of events such as Commencement, Presidential Inaugurations, high-profile speaker series, employee relations recognition programs, and other events and programs identified by the President of the College or the Vice President for Institutional Advancement.

Working with the Assistant Director of Advancement Programs, Adam is responsible for the development and implementation of programs that foster and nurture lasting relationships between Carthage College and its donors and to steward gifts – specifically endowed funds, campaign gifts, principle gifts, and gifts from major donors.
