Give three words that sum up your internship experience.
Motivating, Responsibility, Rewarding
How did you learn about your internship?
“I was fortunate enough to learn about my internship through Carthage because of the opportunity given to me through the Great Lakes Career Ready Internship Program.”
Describe your internship.
“At my internship I take part in promoting the current and upcoming events at the museum. I have the task of updating online calendars as well as assisting in writing emails and newsletters. I have done work with updating their contact database to make it easier for them to get in contact with different outlets such as news, magazines, etc.”
What do you enjoy most about your internship? What are some of the challenges?
“I enjoy having the opportunity to build my skills in the aspect of promotions as well as writing skills with the emails and press releases I have assisted in creating. A challenge I have come across is always being confident in everything I do, but with each day I am able to grow my confidence.”
How does your internship fit with your long-term career goals?
“I look forward to one day being a marketing director and this internship highlights the many responsibilities that a marketing department as a whole encounters on a daily basis.”
During your internship search, how did you make yourself stand out to employers?
“I had the opportunity of showcasing not only skills learned in my classes at Carthage, but I was also able to promote the skills I had learned at my previous internship. Having prior experience gave me confidence while interviewing for my position.”
What did you find to be the most helpful during your internship search process?
“I felt that keeping an open mind when looking for an internship was most helpful. Even if an internship does not seem intriguing, it can still be filled with valuable lessons and skills to take with you on your journey to finding your career.”
Do you have any tips to share with other students about your experience?
“Always have a positive outlook to any situation because it will benefit you in some way. Every task you accomplish has a lesson behind it and will make you that much more prepared for future endeavors.”
