Give three words that sum up your internship experience.
Design, Communication, Parks
How did you learn about your internship?
“I was emailed about the opportunity of the internship program from a mass department email. I also have a friend that works in the Career Service Center.”
Describe your internship.
“I design promotional graphics for the parks department which includes creating brochures, guides, pamphlets, signs, etc. I also help come up with events that can combine the parks with businesses around the parks and Kenosha area.”
What do you enjoy most about your internship? What are some of the challenges?
“What I enjoy most about my internship is the fact that I am working with a great group of people at the parks department and that I am creating designs that will hopefully help bring more people to these beautiful parks.”
How does your internship fit with your long-term career goals?
“Hopefully this internship can lead to a job because I am really enjoying this internship.”
During your internship search, how did you make yourself stand out to employers?
“I had selected a few projects that would appeal to what the interviewer would want to see. I went into my interview with projects that would pique the interviewer’s interest because of the fact that I would be creating some of the same types of projects as the one I was showing.”
What did you find to be the most helpful during your internship search process?
“I found what was most helpful is the quick responses of the people in the grant program. Career Services was really great about making sure I had everything I needed to connect with my employer.”
Do you have any tips to share with other students about your experience?
“I would just jump at the opportunity to get an internship. They are extremely helpful, you get paid, and hopefully if you play your cards right you might create connections that could help you out after you graduate.”
